That all depends on where you live and what you consider to be living well. For instance, I’m going to jump out on a limb here and say that it would be nearly impossible to live well in the Los Angeles area on only $1,000 per month income. Even if you outright owned your property, by the time you pay for utilities, food, property taxes and the other basic necessities of life you would not be living well if you could even get by.
What if you got sick or worse yet you got injured? Sure there are some free clinics out there but the question was, Is it possible to live well on $500 per month? not, Is it possible to survive on $1,000 month?
The answer to that question is actually yes. But you probably won’t be able to do it in the US. But what about places where the cost of living is a lot less. Take Costa Rica for instance. The average Costa Rican or Tico as the are known earns about $500 per month and Costa Rica has the highest happiness index of any country on the planet in every survey I have ever read. A recent New York Times article cited four separate studies in which Costa Rica was number one on all of them.
Even in Costa Rica though it may not be easy to live well on $1,000 per month unless you are living in the right type of community. There are developments popping up all over the country and one in particular is very attractive if you are looking at living well for next to nothing. This eco-sustainable development is located in the southern pacific zone of the country. The development sits at between 1400 and 3000 ft elevation.
Living at Osa Mountain Village will include all the fresh healthy food you can eat since they are producing most of the food the community needs on site and any extra will be used to trade for items not grown on the property. This will include not only fruits and vegetables, but also pork, chicken, tilapia, and maybe even fresh water shrimp and clams.
Life at OMV will also include an endless array of things to do to keep you active and in shape. In fact, there are so many things to do at OMV and in the area in general you will always have plenty to do.
Living life well on $1,000 per month is not only possible, it can be done in paradise if you have an interest.
